IAI Welcomes Leslie Sorensen, P.E., to Engineering & Technical Services Division

November 4, 2020 by IAI

Kent Trierweiler, P.E., set to retire after 42.5 years in water

Ms. Leslie N. Sorensen, P.E., has joined Infrastructure Alternatives, Inc. (IAI), as a Senior Manager in the company’s Engineering & Technical Services (ETS) Division. Leslie’s responsibilities in this role will include overseeing the development of construction plans and specifications for water and wastewater facilities and regulatory permit applications, as well as coordinating with IAI’s mechanical and operations teams for the installation and start-up of plant improvements.

IAI’s ETS team works closely with our Contract Operations and Mechanical Services staffs, to design, permit and manage facility enhancements for water and wastewater utilities throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. Leslie’s past work experience will lend itself well to that effort. She comes to IAI after 16 years with the State of Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE), reviewing and issuing Part 41 and Act 399 permits, providing engineering support to regulatory compliance staff, and approving Asset Management Plans and project plans for the State Revolving Loan Fund, among other responsibilities. Click here to learn more about IAI’s ETS services.

IAI President & CEO, Dana Trierweiler, P.E., said, “Leslie brings with her a knowledge base and a skill set in the water and wastewater fields that makes her a unique fit to the IAI family.” She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan, and earned two BS degrees from Michigan Technological University, where she double-majored in Environmental Engineering and Biological Sciences. We invite everyone to help us welcome Leslie to IAI by leaving a comment below, or sending an email to lsorensen@iaiwater.com.

Leslie’s hire coincides with the upcoming retirement of Mr. Kent Trierweiler, P.E., who has served as IAI’s lead Process Engineer since 2002, when he was the sole employee completely focused on engineering and related services. Kent was responsible for directing all three of IAI’s water and wastewater groups (Contract Operations, Engineering & Technical Services, and Mechanical Services) for varying lengths of time, during the critical early years of the company’s history.

Kent will officially retire at the end of 2020. We ask everyone at IAI, as well as our friends and colleagues in the industry, to reach out to Kent at kentt@iaiwater.com, or by leaving a comment below, to let him know how very much he will be missed. The legacy of Kent’s work at IAI can be seen in our careful, technical approach to each new water/wastewater project, attention to detail and determination to leave each facility better than we found it.
